VVV Venlo president Hai Berden has revealed they could have signed Arsenal superkid Ryo Miyaichi.

Miyaichi was a sensation on-loan at Feyenoord last season.

"Even before he went on trial with Ajax and Arsenal, we spotted him playing for a Japanese youth team," said Berden.

"A deal was on, but then there were complaints about the amount of foreigners we were signing and so I stepped back."
