Former Tottenham and England boss Terry Venables says new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal doesn't suffer from self-doubt.
El Tel recalls one day he spent with the Dutchman in the US alongside Pele.
"Louis explained simply to Pele what he thought of attacking football. To Pele, eh!" laughed Venables with De Telegraaf. "He also has an ego so big that you can barely contain it. But in England we can have him because he is a coach of the modern era."
Venables, who famously was wanted by United before they appointed Sir Alex Ferguson as manager, says Van Gaal deserves the job.
"Only the best coaches can succeed there. I therefore think that Louis deserves his place at Manchester United. But on condition that he gives young English coaches the opportunity to develop."
