Former England boss Terry Venables feels Liverpool's failure to beat Manchester United for Ashley Young has hurt Andy Carroll. Carroll is struggling to justify his £35 million price-tag.
Venables explained in The Sun: "Carroll links up OK with Luis Suarez, although they have not played together often enough to produce a real verdict.
"But if Kenny Dalglish wants to make the most of Carroll, then he needs to get his team to start putting in decent crosses. Carroll would eat them for breakfast.
"Kenny reportedly went for Ashley Young in the summer but the England star chose Manchester United instead and you can see why. Carroll would have thrived on his crosses."
