Venables: Interfering FA setting up England for Euros failure

Former England boss Terry Venables says the FA have set up the Three Lions for failure after stripping Chelsea's John Terry of the captaincy.

Venables wrote in The Sun: "FA chairman David Bernstein and his fellow board members who made the decision will now have no grounds for complaint if the Three Lions flop in Poland and Ukraine this summer.

"Their astonishing knee-jerk reaction has resulted in them shooting themselves in the foot.

"They may claim a moral victory but it could end up being one of the few victories the FA witness in the coming few months.

"By removing Terry from his position they have effectively rendered England rudderless as we prepare to embark for the stormy seas of a major tournament. The decision does not only appear unlawful, it is illogical and ill thought out."
