Former Tottenham boss Terry Venables has warned Wayne Rooney not to take his place at Manchester United for granted. El Tel wrote in The Sun: "If I was Rooney, I would not start making plans for my testimonial at Old Trafford just yet.
"In fact, I would possibly be thinking about starting French lessons or finding out where is best to raise a family in Paris.
"Fergie insisted the striker will remain with the Red Devils in the short-term, yet his actions hinted he could be long-gone in the long-term.
"Like many, I was shocked to see Rooney named on the bench against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
"His manager insists it was a purely tactical decision - and who am I or anybody else to argue with that?
"What does worry me, though, as far as his career is concerned are the facts.
"Namely, that Rooney was considered not good enough to warrant a start for his club in the most high-profile match of the season.
"Do you think Mourinho would have ever considered dropping Cristiano Ronaldo against United for 'tactical reasons?'"
Is Venables right about Rooney? Or will Fergie keep hold of him? Give us your shout below...
