Velez Sarsfield are keen on Newcastle United midfielder Jonas Gutierrez.
The Evening Chronicle says reports in Gutierrez's home country claim Velez, where he began his career, are in discussions with Newcastle negotiating his return.
Gutierrez is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, but the Argentinian club are understood to be eager to complete a transfer for the player before their domestic season gets underway on February 14.
Sheffield Wednesday are also interested in taking the midfielder on-loan.
