Vejle BK defender Euan Holden is hoping he is called up to represent his native Scotland.
The 22-year old younger brother of USA national team star Stuart is in line for a potential call-up from Scotland boss Craig Levein and says he would jump at the chance if it eventuated.
Holden is currently in Denmark with Vejle after being taken by the Houston Dynamo in the 2010 SuperDraft and has heard that Levein is interested which has him extremely excited.
"I've lived in America a long time and I'm probably more American than I realise. But I still regard Scotland as my home. If someone asks me where I'm from I say Scotland," he told Record Sport.
"I see myself as Scottish. Being born in Aberdeen, I was brought up in Scottish culture and that's my background. All my family are Scottish and I still have relatives there.
"People in Scotland are great - you don't forget that even if you move to another country.
"I have fond memories of growing up. I remember playing at Aberdeen's youth football academy and loved it.
"I was a Scotland fan. I tried to follow them as much as I could. I was on holiday back home in 1998 and watched the Scotland v Brazil match at the World Cup.
"I thought back then just how good it would be to be out there playing on that stage with the dark blue shirt on.
"I heard Craig Levein is willing to look around Europe for players who are eligible and that's encouraging. I'd be delighted if he came to see me and considered me for Scotland one day.
"It would be special to play for the national team. I watched him being unveiled on the news and I still follow the team - I know they just missed Euro 2008 and had a disappointing campaign last time under George Burley.
"I'd be proud to play for Scotland. It would be a great honour to pull on that shirt and stand singing Flower of Scotland."
