David Vaughan says new Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio has quickly transformed the team's approach.

The new boss has given the side a tactical makeover and encouraged his players to show more self-belief.

Vaughan told the Evening Chronicle: "You can see what the qualities of the new manager are.

"He is very enthusiastic and fiery, but he also has good tactical knowledge and gets us well organised which we saw at Newcastle.

"He made sure everyone was looking forward to the game on Sunday.

"It was an important game for us, but we had that belief we could go there and win."
