Summer signing David Vaughan is hoping he can use Wales' two Euro2012 qualifiers as a stepping stone to him breaking into Sunderland's starting line-up.
The midfielder, who was relegated Blackpool's Player of the Year last season, has played just ten minutes of the opening three Black Cats matches and is looking to get much more involved starting with some big performances for the Dragons against Montenegro (in Cardiff) and England (in London) over the next week.
"I have enjoyed it so far at Sunderland. I am getting used to a new environment but it has gone quite well," he said.
"I played in the first game at Liverpool, I came on, but I have not played since. That's been a bit disappointing but going to a new club you sometimes have to wait and bide your time.
"This week gives an opportunity to play some games for Wales hopefully, and if I can do well it will help my chances of playing more regularly for Sunderland."
