Vardy shares limelight with Leicester colleagues

Jamie Vardy has praised his Leicester City teammates for helping him equal a Premier League scoring record.

Vardy netted for the 10th match in a row in the weekend's win at Newcastle United, drawing level with Ruud van Nistelrooy's previous Premier League record, set in 2003.

It has been a remarkable start to the season by the 28-year-old striker, who is now only two goals behind former Sheffield United star Jimmy Dunne's first division record of 12 consecutive scoring matches, but he preferred to share the spoils with those around rather than take the plaudits himself.

"It's about hard work and the players that I've got around me getting me into positions where I'm able to put the ball in the back of the net, it's as simple as that," he told Sky Sports News HQ.

"It's a joy to play in that team. In our first year [in the Premier League] we didn't know what to expect, it was quicker and more physical. Confidence is sky high but everyone is very grounded.

"Having experience of that really does help you and if we carry on this way then who knows what will happen.

"I didn't expect it [to score in 10 consecutive games] and I've never set myself any targets. I just wanted to improve on last year and I've done that, I've more than doubled my tally from last year.

"To get the 10 in a row is brilliant but the main thing is to get the points for Leicester. I pinch myself every day because of where I've got myself to."
