Vanstrattan set to sign with Gold Coast

New A-League franchise Gold Coast United could be set to pick up Juventus back-up goalkeeper Jess Vanstrattan as he looks to head home. After being released by the Italian club in June, Vanstrattan looks an ideal prospect for an A-League club after spending seven years in Italy sharpening his craft. At 25 years of age, the Gosford-born shot-stopper has plenty of time to stamp his authority on the game in Australia and push for selection for the Socceroos World Cup squad. It is understood that Vanstrattan was close to joining the Newcastle Jets about twelve months ago but the move was blocked by Verona, his club at the time, before 'The Old Lady of Turin' signed him. He only made one first team appearance with Juventus and is looking to play more regularly, perhaps back on home soil.
