MLS expansion franchise Vancouver Whitecaps were recently awarded first pick of the method they would use to select their first player ahead of the 2011 MLS season.

The Whitecaps won a coin toss against fellow expansion club Portland Timbers and were set to make a decision on one of eight selection methods this week but after both clubs agreed, will take more time.

It is expected that Vancouver will select their first player either from the MLS SuperDraft or the expansion draft.
