Vancouver Whitecaps urging Camilo to bring consistency

Camilo Sanvezzo scored his first MLS goals on the weekend and now his club, Vancouver Whitecaps, want him to begin scoring on a regular basis.

The 22-year old Brazilian was prolific in the Maltese league with Qormi a few seasons back but 'Caps management want him to bring that free-scoring play with him.

Saturday's injury-time double to help record a come-from-behind 3-3 draw with Sporting Kansas City showed what Camilo is capable of and 'Caps director of soccer operations Tom Soehn wants more of the same.

"He still has to prove he can do it week-in and week-out but Camilo had a fantastic game," Soehn said.

"What I liked was his ability to get in behind the attack. His ability to take people on. And, most importantly I think, he's got a nose for the net.

"He was unfortunate not to get more. Their goalkeeper had a very good day."

And Soehn admitted that he was quite excited about things he has heard about Camilo who most recently played with K-League club Gyeongnam.

"Everyone I talked to said, 'There's a lot of qualities there,' or, 'There's more to come,' and when you hear those consistently you're excited to get a guy," Soehn added.

"I saw a lot of his games in Malta, and while some of the defenders weren't as good, you look for what you think can translate into MLS. I thought, 'When you put better players around him, he's going to get even more chances.'"
