Vancouver Whitecaps have traded Shea Salinas to San Jose Earthquakes for allocation money it has been confirmed.

The 25-year old winger made 26 appearances and score one goal in the Whitecaps' debut MLS campaign but has now been moved on as the Canadians look to freshen things up for 2012.

Along with the trade of Salinas, Vancouver have also opted to exercise contract options on goalkeepers Joe Cannon and Jay Nolly, defenders Greg Janicki and Jonathan Leathers and midfielders John Thorrington and Peter Vagenas who will all be eligible for Monday's Re-Entry Draft Stage 2.
