Jay DeMerit is this weekend likely to be handed his first Vancouver Whitecaps start since the opening day of the season.
The 'Caps skipper ruptured his Achilles in March and had been sidelined until he came on in the first half of last weekend's 0-0 draw at San Jose Earthquakes.
As the Whitecaps get set to take on Montreal Impact this weekend, head coach Martin Rennie has the door ajar for the former Watford skipper to be included in the starting line-up.
"I don't really see how I couldn't do that," Rennie said. "He has to play, and all being well, it goes well."
DeMerit admitted it felt nice to be back in action even if he did not pull up all that well from the Quakes battle.
"Of course it's a little bit sore," DeMerit told reporters.
"Not just on a fitness level, but you pick up some knocks and some bruises. But that's a pretty normal occurrence for me, so it's just nice to be back and feeling that way."
