Vancouver Whitecaps secure services of Honduran defender Leveron

Vancouver Whitecaps have confirmed the signing of Honduras international Johnny Leveron.

The 23-year old defender joins the Whitecaps after leaving homeland outfit Motagua at the end of last year and is delighted to commit himself to his new club.

"I am excited and very happy about this new opportunity in Vancouver," Leveron said in a statement. "I will give my all to the fans, club, and city."

And Whitecaps head coach Martin Rennie was thrilled to bring in player such as Leveron who captained Honduras at the 2012 London Olympics.

"Johnny is a left-footed centre back who is very comfortable on the ball," Rennie said in a statement.

"He's still young but he's captained the Honduran Olympic team and has already played a number of games for the senior national team.

"He has a very big upside and we are really excited to welcome him to Vancouver."
