Vancouver Whitecaps president Lenarduzzi excited about new stadium

First-year MLS club Vancouver Whitecaps have managed to land a $563million stadium and president Bob Lenarduzzi is over the moon.

The 22,000-capacity BC Place Stadium is expected to be ready by the end of September and Lenarduzzi is loving the way his clubs new home looks.

"It's fantastic," he said.

"We've gone from the minor leagues to the major leagues, in the league that we play and in the stadium we play in.

"We're trying to create an intimate atmosphere. I think [people are] going to be really impressed here."

And Lenarduzzi is also excited about seeing the brand new retractable roof in action.

"Soon we'll be testing the retractable roof - that'll be an exciting time," he added.
