Vancouver Whitecaps likely to keep Thordarson

MLS expansion franchise Vancouver Whitecaps are likely to retain current head coach Teitur Thordarson when they step into the top flight.

The USSF Division 2 club are preparing themselves for the big move into MLS and it looks likely that the main currently at the helm will hold onto the reins for the 2011 season.

Teitur is doing a great job right now and that's really all I need to say," Whitecaps director of soccer operations Tom Soehn said. "We have a pretty good idea of what we want to do with [the coaching position] but you always want to take your time and not make hasty decisions. We will continue to evaluate the situation."

Meanwhile, the club have released three players as they continue to prepare their inaugural MLS squad.

Ricardo Sanchez and Jonny Steele have joined Tampa Bay whilst Justin Moose was released.
