Vancouver Whitecaps have signed FC Zurich striker Eric Hassli.

The Frenchman has penned a four-year deal with the expansion club, says the Vancouver Sun.

The Caps have stayed tightlipped on the reports.

But FC Zurich confirmed: "FC Zurich announced that Eric Hassli will leave the club on his own request.

"The nearly 30-year-old Frenchman has accepted a lucrative offer from the Vancouver Whitecaps."

Hassli's contract with Zurich was to set to expire this summer but the club allowed him to leave early because of his "contribution to FC Zurich."
