Whitecaps president Greg Lenarduzzi, who will lead the club into the top flight in 2011, says there is no reason to do anything outlandish as they enter and will loosely follow the blueprint set by the Sounders who enjoyed success both on and off the pitch in their debut season.
"There's no reason to reinvent anything," said Lenarduzzi.
"There are things that are going to be different, but the principles as to what they're doing, and how they're doing it, certainly we're going to apply those."
Lenarduzzi added that the way the Sounders attracted so many fans to their games was something he envies and will try to re-create when Vancouver steps in.
"A year ago, maybe a lot of these fans didn't know the Sounders existed. But they've been able to capture the pride of the city and transfer it into the club," he added.
"They've been able to do that in one year. We have to somehow bottle what they've done and get it up to Vancouver, and I think we're on our way."
