Fans of MLS expansion franchise Vancouver Whitecaps were stunned to learn that season ticket prices for their debut season in North America’s top flight will be more expensive than they were first informed.
Members of the clubs only supporters group – the Vancouver Southsiders – were expecting 19-match season tickets to cost just $357 but were angered when the actual price of $553 was released.
Southsiders president John Knox was irate when he was informed of the change in price but said he would hold talks with the club to make sure everything was clear.
“I have to hold back on commenting right now because things are somewhat delicate,” he told the Vancouver Sun. “But we’re optimistic. We’ve always had a very good relationship with the club and when there have been issues, we have found common ground.
“What we see here now is inconsistent with what we see in the rest of the league,” Knox said. “That’s why we need to talk with the Whitecaps and get it sorted out.”
