Vancouver Whitecaps end Jarju experiment

Vancouver Whitecaps have bought out the contract of recently released Designated Player Mustapha Jarju.

Vancouver Whitecaps have bought out the contract of recently released Designated Player Mustapha Jarju.

The 25-year old Gambian striker did not produce what the Whitecaps were hoping and they have now paid out $470,000-a-year contract, ending his time with the club.

Jarju joined last year from Belgian second division club RAEC Mons but did not score a goal or produce an assist in 10 appearances.

There was talk that he could rejoin the team for pre-season training but Vancouver’s move to pay out the contract has forced him out of the club with a return to Mons highly likely.
