The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) announced today that Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Terry Dunfield has been called up to Canada's men's national team for a friendly against Honduras in Montreal, Quebec, on Tuesday, September 7.

Dunfield, 28, joined Whitecaps FC last month and has since made three appearances for the club, including two starts for 216 minutes of action. Prior to joining Whitecaps FC, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound central midfielder was a member of English League Two club Shrewsbury Town FC for a season-and-a-half. Dunfield has also played for English League Two sides Bury FC and Macclesfield Town FC after being a member of the youth set-up at English Premier League giants Manchester City FC, where he made one appearance with their first team.

Internationally, the native of Vancouver, BC, has appeared for Canada at both the youth and senior international level. His first and only senior international cap came on May 29, 2010, as Canada earned a 1-1 friendly draw in Venezuela.

Dunfield will join Stephen Hart's Canadian squad in Montreal tonight. As a result, the midfielder will miss Vancouver's match against Puerto Rico Islanders at Swangard Stadium later today. Dunfield will be available for Whitecaps FC's following match away to Crystal Palace Baltimore at Paul Angelo Russo Stadium in Towson, Maryland, on Saturday, September 11.
