Vancouver Whitecaps’ DeMerit: This season as frustrating as Premier League with Watford

Vancouver Whitecaps defender Jay DeMerit has labeled this MLS season as one of the toughest of his career.

The 31-year old has managed just 17 appearances for the Canadian club this season as the Whitecaps sit at the foot of the table with the worst record in the North American top flight and he feels it has been as difficult as the 2006/07 season he played in the English Premier League with Watford.

“It’s up there with the year we were in the Premiership with Watford – just a lot of ups and downs and frustration,” DeMerit told the Vancouver Sun of the campaign which ended with the Hornets recording just five wins and finishing on the bottom.

“But either way, I still love that I’m here and I still love what I do and it’s all part of a process. My career is based around a lot of things like this so it’s not a new feeling for me by any means.”
