Vancouver Whitecaps coach Dalrymple: French education invaluable

Vancouver Whitecaps U15 and U16s coach Craig Dalrymple is one of the first MLS academy coaches to undergo courses in Europe.

Dalrymple recently spent two weeks with France's famed Clairefontaine Academy just out of Paris and indicated that the education he had received, albeit a quick one, will greatly assist him and the Canadian club in moving forward.

"It's different to what I've learned through the U.S. and Canadian courses and my UEFA courses," Dalrymple told The Province.

"It challenges you to question your own philosophy. There's things I could change. There's things we could change."

Dalrymple also visited Paris Saint-Germain and said the French giants are closely following the blueprint for success.

"PSG is following it to a tee," said Dalrymple."They bring in 16 players at age 13 and 10 of those will turn into a pro when they exit their system. If they first see a player in Paris at 15, even he's doing well, they'll never insert him into the system."
