Vancouver Whitecaps head coach Teitur Thordarson has signed a one-year contract extension after two years at the helm of the club.
The Whitecaps will play in the newly formed North American Soccer League in 2010 before joining MLS the following season and will have the Iceland native for at least one more season.
Thordarson joined the club in late 2007and has led them to the USL-1 championship in 2008 before seeing them go down in the final of this year's competition against Montreal Impact.
The 57-year old has spent most of his coaching career in Norway's top-flight Tippeligaen, where he coached for 11 seasons with clubs like SK Brann, FC Lyn Oslo, and Lillestrøm SK.
