MLS have announced Vancouver as the 17th MLS franchise due to start playing in 2011. Announcing the first of two franchises available for the 2011 season in Vancouver, MLS have continued a trend set with the Seattle Sounders by granting a franchise to an existing USL team the Vancouver Whitecaps. Reports out of Portland are predicating a similar announcement for The Portland Timbers on Friday 20th March.
