Van Wolfswinkel chose Norwich with World Cup in mind

Ricky van Wolfswinkel admits he agreed to sign for Norwich City with next year's World Cup in mind.

The former Sporting Lisbon striker admits moving to a bigger club would've put his Holland place in jeopardy.

"For me only one thing counts: I win playing time with a good club," explained Van Wolfswinkel.

"All the interest of the big clubs in Europe is fun, but such a step makes little sense if you then end up on the bench. The World Cup in Brazil is a year away and the coach is clear in his selection.

"You have to play with your club and perform weekly. A goal that I have set myself."
