The agent of Sporting Lisbon striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel says no formal contact has been fielded from Manchester United. United assistant manager Mike Phelan confirmed their interest in the young Dutchman this week.

Agent Louis Laros told Voetbal International: "It's logical that Ricky would be linked with major clubs.

"For the moment, I have not heard from them (United) and Sir Alex Ferguson hasn't been on the line. That's not how it works. It's only October.

"In about three months everything will be different."
