Rio Ferdinand has revealed that Robin van Persie enjoyed the difference in mentality that Manchester United have compared to Arsenal.
The former Gunners skipper departed the Emirates Stadium to join United in the summer of 2012 and went on to win the Premier League title in his debut campaign at Old Trafford.
Ferdinand, now with QPR, played alongside van Persie for two seasons and said in his new autobiography, '2 Sides', that the Dutchman thoroughly enjoyed being a part of a winning culture under Sir Alex Ferguson.
'Robin van Persie loved the winning mind state that Fergie had created,' Ferdinand wrote.
'He told me that at Arsenal you wanted to win, but at United you had to win.'
During his eight years with Arsenal, van Persie won just the 2005 FA Cup and 2004 Community Shield but made an immediate impact when scoring 26 Premier League goals to help the Red Devils lift the 2013 premiership.
