Manchester United defeated Wigan 2-0 at Wembley in the Community shield with Robin van Persie scoring a brace. The Holland international told ITV: "It is always nice to score, especially at Wembley. I am ready glad for everyone.

"Last year I did not score too many headers, so I have to improve on that.

"We have got Wilfried Zaha, who is doing really well. I believe in this team, we are the champions.

"I cannot explain us being third favourites for the title. We will compete again."
