Van Nistelrooy: Depay not quite ready to make a difference at Man Utd

Manchester United great Ruud van Nistelrooy does not think Memphis Depay is not yet ready to become a key player for the Red Devils.

Depay has endured a difficult start to life at United and his performances have been a bit of a disappointment for the Red Devils faithful as the winger had arrived at Old Trafford amid a lot of fanfare.

Former United striker van Nistelrooy thinks Depay will eventually be able to recover from his poor start but stated that the 21-year-old is not quite prepared to make the telling difference for the Premier League giants as of yet.

Van Nistelrooy said: "To make a difference at United, it means being really brilliant and being decisive in big games. He is not yet ready for that quite yet.

"He will rise again. He will become better and more influential. He is really eager to learn. When he is with the national team, I have worked very closely with him.

"As a coach, I always look to accentuate positives to make his strong points even better. He will get there, I'm sure."
