Van Hooijdonk: Advocaat will shake up Sunderland

Former Nottingham Forest striker Pierre van Hooijdonk expects new Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat to bang some heads together.

Van Hooijdonk played under Advocaat for Holland's national team and says the diminutive Dutchman is big on discipline.

"He's one of those coaches who loves to be in charge of everything," said the former Nottingham Forest and Celtic striker.

"He's a little man, and little men always try to be big. I don't mean that in a funny way, but he's a coach who can win the players over. I think, in the short period of time he has got at Sunderland, that is what is necessary.

"I think it's a gamble for Sunderland - there are no guarantees in football. But bringing in an experienced coach at this stage of the season for a short period is always a better option."
