Louis van Gaal wants Tim Sherwood to remain with Tottenham. The Mail on Sunday says Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is close to finalising the appointment of a new manager for next season in Holland coach Van Gaal.
Van Gaal would be willing to have current boss Sherwood involved at the club as an assistant manager.
But Sherwood is unlikely to want to operate as a No 2, and should he part company with Spurs will want a job in his own right.
