He has been left furious by the way United's board treated him and the Sun claim his wife, Truus, told him the BBC were reporting his sacking and the imminent arrival of Jose Mourinho just minutes after lifting the FA Cup last Saturday.
The 64-year-old had thought claiming the club's first major trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013 would be enough to keep his job.
