New Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is convinced they can trump Manchester City for wantaway Arsenal fullback Bacary Sagna.
The People says City are confident French international right-back Sagna will sign a four-year deal worth £100,000 a week after he confirmed that Saturday's FA Cup Final was his last game for Arsenal.
United believe they can turn Sagna's head, pointing out he will have to play second fiddle to Pablo Zabaleta.
And a deal doesn't make financial sense to City, who are still reeling from UEFA'S financial fair play rebukes and would have to justify a £100,000-a-week asset on the substitutes' bench.
Van Gaal doesn't fancy Old Trafford right-back Rafael and reckons Robin van Persie can help lure his former Gunners team-mate.
