Bayern Munich boss Louis van Gaal said he was proud of his players after a fighting come-from-behind win over Manchester United on Tuesday night.
The German outfit edged past the England champions 2-1 despite going down early and will now take a slight advantage into the Champions League quarter-final second leg on April 7.
van Gaal said it was a strong performance by his men and believes his side were much better than their opponents on the night.
"I'm very proud of my players that they got back into the game with their mentality. We were much better than United in the end," he said.
