Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has told chief Ed Woodward to end his pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos.
The Daily Star says Woodward has spent the last six months working on a £30m deal to lure Bayern Munich midfielder Kroos to Old Trafford.
Talks were believed to be at an advanced stage after former boss David Moyes had earmarked him as one of his main summer signings.
But Van Gaal has told Woodward he is not interested in Kroos after replacing Moyes, who was sacked last month.
