Former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has paid tribute to Liverpool fans.

Van Gaal was at Anfield on Saturday for the 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

The Dutchman, who has turned down more than 20 jobs in the past year, will stun United fans with what he believes was the most magical thing at Anfield.

“The minute before the kick-off at the Kop end, when they sing 'You'll Never Walk Alone', that gives me goose bumps all over my body. Oh' it is wonderful," said Van Gaal.

“Man City v Man United? It can come nowhere near Liverpool v United. This is as big as Real v Barca, or Ajax v Feyenoord in my own country.''
