Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal was delighted with the passion of his players for victory at Liverpool on Sunday.
When asked about the desire his squad demonstrated to beat the club's arch rivals, van Gaal spoke of his admiration at seeing his players so determined to win at all costs.
"I think that is good that the players take responsibility, but at the right moment," the manager told reporters on Friday afternoon.
"I have seen it in my career where players take responsibility at the wrong moment, but it has to be at the right moment that you do it.
"In the Champions League final in 1995 Frank Rijkaard did that for example and it is always good as it helps the manager and all of the players. It was funny how I said [it had been too quiet in the dressing room] and then at half-time it was happening. I was very pleased with the players."
Asked whether he took a step back as the players discussed their thoughts on the best way of beating Liverpool during the midway point in the game, he added: "I am doing that always because I believe in the corrections of fellow players which I believe is more important than a correction of the manager."
