Van Dijk intent on guiding Celtic through to CL knockout phase

Virgil van Dijk says he is in no mood to settle for the Europa League with Celtic.

The Dutchman has emerged as a key contributor for the Hoops since his summer move from FC Groningen and now that he has tasted the Champions League with the Scottish giants is determined to continue the ride.

Celtic sit bottom of Group H on three points from four matches but can enhance their Round of 16 chances when they host second-placed AC Milan (five points) on November 26 and van Dijk is certainly up for the challenge.

"It's still possible to qualify, we need two results from two games and we know we can get that," he said.

"Our aim is still the last 16, we are not thinking about the Europa League just now.

"The group is still very tight but we have to step up our game if we are to go through.

"The AC Milan game at home is a very big one for us now, that could determine whether or not we go through, but we will also still need to go and get a result over in Barcelona (in the final group fixture)."
