Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk had agreed on personal terms with two of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal during summer, according to football journalist Gabriele Marcotti.
The Dutch defender was strongly linked with all three clubs during the transfer window, but he wasn't granted an exit by the South Coast club.
ESPN journalist Marcotti made the revelation when he replied to a Twitter user: "He had a deal in place with two of those clubs… but sometimes stuff happens, as you saw…"
