Van der Vaart: Chelsea legend Gullit convinced me about Tottenham

Rafael van der Vaart admits Chelsea hero Ruud Gullit convinced him about moving to Tottenham last season.

Van der Vaart admits it was a culture shock to move from Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid to White Hart Lane.

He said: “I only worked with Mourinho for one month and what I saw was that he was a great manager, technical. The first thing he said was, ‘You guys, listen to me and you’ll win every game’.

“But Ruud Gullit told me Harry was a great manager and a really nice man.

“For example, when your family come over, he chats with your family.

“Everybody loves Harry. I think the whole of England does.”
