Tottenham ace Rafael van der Vaart admits they must win at Manchester City to prove their title credentials.
After only drawing 1-1 with Wolves last week, which left them five points behind City, Van der Vaart feels victory will prove their title credentials.
He told the Daily Star: "This match is so crucial for us. We have to be able to demonstrate we are candidates for the title and we can only do that by winning in Manchester.
"City only beat bottom side Wigan 1-0 and we know that in the Premier League there is just no easy game.
"But we have seen in recent weeks that City are not invincible and our manager, Harry Redknapp, has been reminding us of that. This is the moment for Spurs to come alive and show that we really want something out of this season.
"Things have really started to develop. We are an ambitious side so we want to beat City at their own stadium more than anything. It will be enormous for us and huge value.
"If we win the gap will be down to two points but defeat will mean an eight-point gap, which you would see as a massive hill to climb.""Our poor result against Wolves was a huge shock for us. It was an accident, but I also believe it must serve as a huge lesson.
