Van der Sar insists 2-1 Bayern Munich defeat good result for Man Utd

Edwin van der Sar has urged Manchester United fans not to panic after defeat to Bayern Munich.

The Dutch goalkeeper insists the 2-1 loss is a good result going into the return-leg of their Champions League quarterfinal at Old Trafford.

"Losing 2-1 away in Europe is normally viewed as not a bad result. But when you take into account how we've being playing in the Champions League and the fact they scored in the second minute of added time, it was disappointing," he said.

"Now we have to pick ourselves up for the game against Chelsea on Saturday.

"I was busier than I usually am. I would have preferred a quieter night but that is what I get paid for.

"People's expectations of us are so high now they were expecting us to win, and that is OK. We share those high expectations but sometimes, like against Bayern, it does not work out."
