Edwin van der Sar admits Manchester United have missed Cristiano Ronaldo this season.
The Dutch goalkeeper says Antonio Valencia and Wayne Rooney have done well to cover the void left by the Real Madrid star.
"If you lose the best player in the world you have to shuffle your team. Antonio Valencia is a completely different player. He did good in his first year and we're hoping to see much more in the second. Nani really came on and we can hopefully see more of him, too, giving us a little bit more goal threat than just Wayne or another striker," Van der Sar told the Sunday Times.
And Rooney?
"He was not exactly in the shadow of Ronaldo but with all the goals Ronnie scored, maybe it was hard for him. Having that central striker position and getting all the balls fed into him has helped and he channels his movement more. He works hard, always staying after training to do some finishing, free kicks and penalties. It's similar to Ronaldo. Certain players have a gift that they show on the pitch but the ones who reach the very top also work hard to improve."
