Van der Meyde resists Hull interest

Andy van der Meyde has turned down interest from Hull City.

The News of the World says the winger is still searching for a new club after his contract expired at Everton following an unhappy spell on Merseyside.

After training with Blackburn in the summer, the Dutchman hoped to win a contract with Sam Allardyce's club.

However, Allardyce did not pursue his interest - even if he is believed to have put in a word to his pal Phil Brown at Hull.

Van der Meyde, 31, is desperate to find an Eredivisie club instead.

"Blackburn Rovers were interested but a youngster did well in the pre-season," he told the Dutch press. "So there was no room for me.

"I will return to the Netherlands. I could go to Hull but I can't see it happening.

"I miss Holland and just want to play football and not really earn an absurd salary."
