van den Bergh still hoping to attract clubs

Former New York Red Bulls and FC Dallas winger Dave van den Bergh is still holding hope that he can picked up by a MLS club.

The 33-year old Dutch winger was waived by Dallas after last season but after going to watch the Red Bulls' season opener to be a part of the Red Bull Arena unveiling, he knew that he does not want his time in the game to be up.

"I was watching the game and I caught myself a lot of times being tense," he told the New York Post. "I think that showed me that I'm just not ready to say I'm done. It's not up to me, I guess. It's up to the people in charge at this point whether they want to offer me anything or not."

van den Bergh has been linked with a return to New York but says he has not held talks with anybody involved with the club in regards to a contract.

"I've not talked with anyone. The only one I've talked to really is reporters who tell me that I'm free," he said. "I haven't had any conversation with anyone in charge of either MLS or an MLS team."
