FC Dallas have released former Holland international Dave van den Bergh.

The 33-year old left-sided midfielder/defender joined the club from New York Red Bulls last season but has been waived despite playing every league match in 2009.

He is now being linked with a return to New York who he helped make the MLS Cup final in 2008 only to go down to Columbus Crew 3-1.

van den Bergh began his career in 1995 with Ajax Amsterdam and since moving on in 1997 has played in Spain with Rayo Vallecano, back in Holland with FC Utrecht before he moved to the USA to play with the Kansas City Wizards and then joined New York in 2007.
