Patrick van Aanholt held crunch talks with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho over the weekend.
The Dutch left-back is in his third season on-loan at Vitesse Arnhem and has been outstanding for coach Peter Boesz this term.
De Telegraaf says Van Aanholt returned to London on the weekend to meet with Mourinho and to discuss his future at Chelsea.
"I still think Chelsea is a nice club, but they've got so many millions that they can buy every top player," said the left-back last month.
It's suggested Mourinho is prepared to give Van Aanholt a chance to succeed Ashley Cole as his top left-back next season.
